2005 – 2014 Tacoma
Clutch Pedal Squeak/Creak Noise

It looks like 2005 – 2014 Tacoma owners have been experiencing a squeak or creaking noise in their clutch pedal. That can be an annoying thing to listen to while you are driving. Here is the official statement from Toyota in their most recent bulletin.

Quote “Some 2005 – 2014 model year Tacoma vehicles may exhibit a squeak or creak noise from the clutch pedal when it is depressed or released. Changes have been made to the clutch pedal and clutch
master cylinder assembly to address this condition.”

This is not a brand new bulletin but one that has been updated to include the 2013 and 2014 models.

It appears that there are updated parts, which we have added to our website, that are needed to get rid of this annoying squeak/creak noise.

Part numbers are as follows:
31420-60031 Clutch Master
31311-04020 Clutch Pedal Bracket
31434-60010 Clutch Reservoir Hose
08887-02007 Grease

2GRFE Optional Oil Pipe
Conversion / Replacement Parts

Hey there 2GRFE owners.

Customers have been experiencing issues with the oil feed pipes on their vehicles. The original hose 15707-31030 is partially steel on both ends with a short section of rubber hose in the middle.

Here is a list of affected models:

  • Avalon (2005 – 2012)
  • Avalon (2013 – )
  • Camry (JPP) (2007 – 2011)
  • Camry (NAP) (2007 – 2011)
  • Camry (SE/Hybrid) (2012 -)
  • Highlander (NAP) (2010 – 2013)
  • Highlander (JPP) (Hybrid) (2014 -)
  • Rav4 (NAP) (2009 -)
  • Rav4 (JPP) (2006 – 2012)
  • Sienna (2004 – 2010)
  • Sienna (2011 – )
  • Venza (2009 -)

In short the complaint is due to an oil leak from the bank 1 oil feed line. The clamp at one end of the hose wears through creating a hole and thus slowly draining the oil supply.

Good news though the parts are cheap to replace and the new line does not have the rubber hose. It is a solid steel line. Originally this only affected certain models but all engines with the 2GRFE engine.

Here are the items needed to replace the 15707-31030 hose and pipe combo:

1) 15772-31030 (solid steel line)
1) 90430-16016 (banjo washers)
2) 90430-16012 (banjo washers)

On each of these product pages you will see an image of the updated parts.
