Picture this, you are in hurry to get the kids off to school. They are fighting with each other and with you because they don’t want to go. Your day started out bad because you spilled coffee all over the floor and the dogs ran thru it. That was a 15 minute mess you had to clean up. So finally, you pile the kids into the 2005 Sienna van/school bus and start backing out of the garage when “BAM” you smack the driver’s side mirror on the corner of your garage door opening and it breaks into 20 pieces. You drop your head in disbelief and just wonder, could this day get any worse. It has to be fixed so at lunch you take your Sienna over to the local repair shop to get an estimate and your shocked to see the quote. He quotes you more than retail for the part and points out that it will be 2.5 hours of labor at $105.00 per hour. You can make a claim with your insurance company but you can only imagine how much your car insurance will go up. So now you are looking at a repair in the $700-$1000.00 range and not quite sure what to do.
Does this scenario sound familiar? Well you are not the only one. Backing out of the garage is (in my opinion) the most common reason these mirrors get broken. Cars, Trucks and yes your Sienna van are bigger these days and the size of the garages just have not caught up. I have even seen where the new trucks are so big that they don’t even fit in the garage.
Don’t let this scenario get you down, we are here to save you time and money on this unfortunate mistake. First you have to purchase the mirror. We can help with that. Being a Toyota dealer we can make sure that you get the correct part and ship it to your home, you don’t even need to leave the house. Then if you head over to shareyourrepair.com you can get step-by-step repair instructions to replace the mirror yourself. Great images and instructions. He really took his time and laid out the process clearly.
Cut the cost of getting it from the local repair shop in half by buying it from us and saving the labor charges by doing it yourself you can sleep a little better now that it is fixed.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post. If you did I would love to hear your comments.
